This course is designed to get users up and writing in iBooks Author. We will guide you through creating beautifully designed pages and show you how to bring those designs to life with interactive content. This course covers creating a new interactive iBook to finally publishing a finished product on the Apple iBookstore.
Plus the course has now been updated to include all the great new features introduced in version 2!
Anybody interested in creating interactive iBooks. Of particular interest to anyone in education who thinks that this would be useful or beneficial to their students‘ learning.
Delegates should have basic computer skills, and preferably basic mac skills along with having used an iPad. The course will take place on Apple hardware. Students may find it beneficial to attend the iWorks course prior to attending this course.
iBooks Author Overview
What is iBooks Author and what is its benefit? The course will examine sample workflows iBooks Author, as well as a walk through of the iBooks interface
Setting up up your book
A look at iBook elements and what can be used to build up an iBook. Users will then be creating an iBook utilising book and page properties, templates and layouts. This will also cover how to create and manipulate templates and layouts.
Adding and formatting text
Adding text and using text styles, while looking at the tools available for formatting text, and a close look at all the available writing tools within iBooks Author. We will also examine the use of updating text fields within the iBook.
Graphics, Media and other objects
We will begin with an overview of the use of rich media with iBooks. This will be followed by a basic look at objects and the adding, editing and removal of objects. Users will then be shown the value of Widgets, or interactive media, within the iBook, including photographic and 3D media. This will be followed by a look at shapes, tables and charts within iBooks.
Previewing, Publishing and printing an iBook.
Here we will cover previewing your iBook on an iPad before publishing to the iBookstore. Then we will cover exporting, emailing and printing your iBook.
In the final chapter we will look at customization of iBook Author and how to get the most out of the software for specific needs.
